Above the morning grey sky rage scattered in confusion
Dispelled all thought of blame or praise, left me with its blessing
Cool she breathes, light she flies, sunshine and in shadow
And the day will come again my friend that gave me a rainbow
Shoes and ships and fingertip successes with distinction
Discussed by glib street corner kings who slyly ply convention
In the hollow of the night shaded with dissension
And with the silence of each hour my ragged mind is emptied
To remain for a season
Such staff that dreams are made on fade.
It's evening and back into the night will drift away
...
I stood upon the twisting path that died upon the skyline,
Taking with it all I'd bee, and hoped could ever be mine.
Cool she breathes, light she flies, sunshine and in shadow,
And the day will come again my friend, that gave me a rainbow.
..
To remain for a season,
Such stuff that dreams are made on fade.
It's evening and with a final sigh we'll melt away.
